Jessica is a life-long mathematics educator with extensive classroom and private tutoring experience. She currently lives in North Carolina with her two sons and 8-year-old rescue dog. Jessica has lived in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New York City, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia and New Hampshire. Her non-academic pastimes include cooking, gardening, sewing, hiking, camping, and yoga.

Jessica uses adaptive strategies in the classroom and during tutoring sessions to provide ALL students with an attainable level of rigor. Her academic background in astrophysics and applications of high-level mathematics provides enthusiastic support for advanced or gifted students. Her educational and personal passion, however, is working with students with learning differences and challenges. She is particularly adept at supporting neurodivergent learners (ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and students with self-limiting “math anxiety” and general “test anxiety”.

She worked on leadership and curriculum teams to adapt a “Growth Mindset” philosophy towards mathematics education. In addition, she lead workshops and presentations for educators on strategies to include “Making Thinking Visible” and “Creative and Critical Thinking” into daily lessons. Jessica successfully encourages and motivates students to extend their mathematical ability and find “joy in math”. She does this by harnessing and developing every individual’s intellectual strengths and improving math confidence using a multi-representational approach to mathematics. These methods are particularly effective for neurodivergent learning profiles and students who classify themselves as “not math people”.
