A 30-minute free and no-obligation consultation is recommended prior to scheduling formal tutoring sessions. The consultation is an opportunity for the student (and parent / guardians) to meet with the tutor to see if personalities, format, and expectations are a good fit.
This meeting is designed for students to share their desired outcome from the tutoring sessions and to provide any relevant background about their math learning experiences. Based on goals, learning targets, and other information, an individualized support plan will be developed. This plan will include suggestions for the frequency of sessions and establish communication patterns. Weekly meetings are most common, but certain students find multiple sessions a week to be highly beneficial. Some students meet with tutors for certain topics, for only a few sessions, others want to meet solely to review for tests. All of this can be discussed during the consultation, and re-evaluated throughout the tutoring relationship.

Tutoring services are provided at four levels with options for 60-minute and 90-minute sessions. Pricing varies by course content. One-on-One tutoring ALWAYS puts the student first. The fundamental purpose of private tutoring is for the student to feel heard, valued, and learn at their pace. Asking questions and being honest about what is understood and what is confusing is critical to a positive tutoring experience.
Tutoring sessions can serve different purposes. Depending on a student’s need (and scheduled time available) more than one type of support can be offered within a single session. Common types of support include the following:
Review concepts from class lessons, reteaching topics as needed with additional examples
Assistance with homework and independent practice
Use of technology to support math learning (Desmos and Graphing Calculators)
Preparation for quizzes and tests
Executive functioning support (study skills, organization, note taking, time management)
Resources to support concept mastery
Resources to address gaps or confusion with skills taught in previous courses
Resources for enrichment or instruction on extended content
